Every year, a ceremony, that is merely the “Famadihana”, takes place during the dry season, between June to September, for to make a feast with the deaths. As it’s a feast, there isn’t a famadihana without music “Hira gasy” and everybody eats the “Varibemenaka” together it’s the dish of rice and meat of zebu or very fat pork.
During the ceremony the “Toaka Gasy or TG”, local rum often to basis of cane to sugar. The deaths also participate to the feast, it’s the reason why the “Zanadrazana” (descendant of the person exhumed at the time of the famadihana) take their ancestors of the family’s tomb, and, changed them some dresses. This last offers the deaths of the new shrouds. And, as the deaths living being that day, everybody speaks to them, them asking some blessing. When one is finished to wrap the bodies of the ancestors, the Malagasy dance with them before to making them in the family’s vault.

You know, Malagasy believed that after dead, we continue to live in another place that we call “hear after” or in Malagasy language “any ankoatra”. It’s one the origin of the existence of this custom.
After dead, the defunct can interfere therefore again in the life of his heirs and they can give their blessing to the member of the family in life. The funeral or the “fandevenana” makes pass someone in the world of the living to the one of the deaths. One the other hand, the famadihana or exhumation” or again “reversals of the death” makes enter the defunct in the world of the ancestors and confer him the protective power. The ritual of the famadihana knows some kinds according the ethnic who practice it but generally, it consists in exhuming a person’s mortuary rests to offer him new shrouds or to repatriate a person buried in another cemetery toward the family tomb. As we know, the famadihana is practiced during the southern winter (between June to September). During this period of cold weather, the tradition wants that the defunct appears in the dream to one of his descendants while complaining about to be cold. This person should inform his family’s other members so that the famadihana of the defunct appeared in dream is organized in the briefest delay.

To determine the date favourable to the” famadihana “, then the family promoter should consult a “mpanandro” or soothsayer astrologer. During the ceremony, the “zana-drazana” should wear a costume different of the one of the guests uniformly to distinguish them

It also allows them of always well to act because the “razana” will never help and will never bless a bad person. The “famadihana” is also the unique opportunity to unite all descendants of a same family in joy and the good mood. To organize a “famadihana” is expensive; it is why it is not rare to see that several deceased benefit from this ritual during this event.

FADY is a set of taboos, concerning the use of some substances, mainly of food, and temporality some actions and rites.

FADY continue to control an important part of Malagasy life. The topic of Taboo is very important the Malagasy society. Every tribe, every region possesses its share of behaviour or forbidden actions. The fady transmits of generation in generation and certain are merely creates by the astrologer (or Ombiasa in Malagasy language) or by the person the most respected of the village or the region. It’s counselled therefore to follow the advice of the local when we travel through the country.

The collective circumcision of the “Sambatra”, it is an opportunity that allows the boys to become men within the community.
The ceremony of the “Sambatra” lasts four weeks. It is a feast that mobilizes the thousands of people come of the whole country. During the feast the Antambahoaka explode completely. Everywhere, one hears the” Antsa “that is to say of the songs given rhythm of the women, of the” Hazolahy “(the sacred drum) and l ‘ “Antsiva “or the navy conch
- In the beginning of the ceremony, one hunts the bad minds in the whole city.
- The fathers decorate the ridge board of the slots of a dove sculpted.
- The mothers prepare the red holdings of the boys and the braids on which they will be operated.
- The young are going to draw the water, that will serve to wash the wound of circumcise them, to a sacred river. Upon their return, a semblance of battle takes place with the people of the village who tempt to reverse their calabashes.
- Everybody rallies after with the big procession, in direction toward the” VINANY “that is to say the mouth that is next to the big beach of white sand.
- The mother’s brother carries on her back (Manao Antsangory) the nephew; this last wears a dress and a hat in red. The downward “AMPANJAKA” of the kings will pour on each some drops of sacred water.
- The women put their traditional lamba, their hair plaited with care surmounted of hats made of raffia and they spend the whole evening precede the operation to the prayer.
- The last sacred ceremony of the SAMBATRA takes place in the TRANOBE (house of dwelling of the Ampanjaka)

Of one point of medical view, “this surgery is achieved for reasons of hygiene. The risks of complication bound to the sexually transferable illnesses are reduced more at the man circumcise. Otherwise, the practice of the circumcision decreases the possibility to contract the cancer of the penis”, explain Dr Rafalimanana.

Sainte-Marie

there is the favorable condition for their babies. It’s because of the hot temperatur of the sea.(As we know, the wales are mammals) It’s is a greatest event which is should not be missed here ih Saint-Marie.

As an Paradise island and touristical, the passage of the whales every year in Saint-Marie ocean bring a very big oportunity of the people who are living in this island (Saint-Marian) to attract the tourist either Malagasy either foreingers.
In addition, the beauty of the landscape such as: hotels, its beautiful beach, touristic site as pirates cimetery,…are the main attractive things in Saint-Marie.

In term of festival, this festival is among of the famous one here in Madagascar. First of all, the whales has a very specific name here, people call them as a “Zagnahary be” literally means “Big God” so it means that the whales is a sacred mammals here. That is why, we celebrate their passage here in Saint-Marie.
We starded to celebrate this event since for 1999 with a very huge party: we sings Malagasy songs together and modern songs, we play on the beach untill the morning with a very famous musician sometimes , there is also an exposition in wich we can easily learn more about this island, ..We are feeling alright during this event.

To end this festivity, this festivity is the main economic ressource.
I decided to let you guyz know about this festivity because first of all I’m from threre, I love my own culture, and if you visit there you will see their hospitality, it’s impressioning.In term of Madagascar festivities, it’s my favorite one here.

The congress was organised by the association called: DEJA “Entrepreneurial Challenge of Young Assets”, and was taking place at University of Tamatave on December 17th ’till 21st, 2008.
The main theme is:”Young Intellectuals taking part of development.” And, “What is impossible to the men is possible for God” is the slogan during the congress. The aim of the congress is that to change Madagascar in a better way facing this globalization.
During five days of the congress, since for the opening ceremonies leaded by Pastor Arthur RANALA and Razafimazandimby MANASE we were feeling warm here in campus of University of Tamatave. Also the different intervening, the University President was one of the most dynamic because he helped very much the organizators, including the housing, about materials…
As an international congress, all the University students around Madagascar are interested and running to University of Tamatave.
As an young christian, we had a very important guest who was the president of University christiann in South Africa and now he’s named as a Pastor PAPU.
The training during the congress, the young students learned much about how to be a good entrepreneur. Also, this congress gave a very big oportunity of the young students to meet up. We had fun during the cultural night event, because we were playing together it was an unforgetable time for me.
To sum it up, not only the organizator at the congress but also the government are waiting for that all the participants will bring a development in their society and why not in this sweet country (Madagascar)
